Tips for building up breastmilk supply

One thing I learned from having 3 kids, breastmilk is the best source of milk for children up to a year old. The first few days, the milk that a mother makes packs up with a ton of antibodies that the baby needs throughout his/her lifetime. This is in the form of a very thick liquid.

FACTS:

Did you know that a certain virus/bacteria cannot infect a breastfed person than the ones who are bottle fed? My father in law was a bottlefed kid, so when he went to the doctor with an infection, the doctor asked "were you bottlefed?", He nodded. The doctor said this infection cannot happen to a person who was breastfed. He got this infection when he was 40 years old!!! Imagine that!!!

Building up supplies:

You should start pumping from the beginning. Few days after delivery, our milk supply goes on an overdrive. You get  swollen breast and a lot of milk leakage. This is the time to increase your supply because your body is adjusting how much milk your baby needs. So start pumping at this time. If you start too late, your body will produce only the amount that the baby needs. I start pumping too late with my second kid, and I cant produce extra.

Storing milk:

Its best to seperate the breastmilk in a container so it doesnt get contaminated with other food stuff in the freezer

I used to use the normal feeding bottle to freeze the milk but find that I need more storage space and the bottles are taking up space in my freezer plus theres not enough bottle to store them. So I went to plan B and bought breastmilk storage bags. It looks like a ziplog bag but it comes pre-sterilized and its leak proof. The best thing about this is it takes less space in the freezer and now I can store more milk than ever.
