Drill on how to work from home

Over the past few weeks, I've gained some insights from my fellow friends (thank you for sharing this) on how to work from home and my own personal experience.
It is a totally different experience where you have to work from home but how do we manage to do that when everything at home warrants for your attention and time. How to maximise productivity but at the same time still be there for your family.
When you start working from home, let your family your working hours and ask them not to disturb you during this time. OK lets get into it:
  1. The most important of all is set up a DEDICATED space/table in your house. Preferably a separate quiet room. This space you would go from 9-5(whichever your timing is). Bless the NO commute/drive time though.
  2. Get dressed/grooming (toothbrush, shower, change of clothes etc) to keep the routine as how you would before you go to office.
  3. When you enter the space, make sure all your necessary materials are with you so you don't waste time going back and forth to get your stuff. (laptop, laptop charger, phone charger, work diary etc, pen).
  4. As you turn on your laptop, start decluttering your screen. Remove all the non-work related tabs on you browser/screen (this includes netflix 😄 and all social medias). Linkedin does not include in this 😄 Thats work related.
  5. Take regular breaks (to keep you sane of course).
  6. Take lunch break as usual. Best things about these breaks, you get to spend them with your family or to get chores done in this period.
  7. Have an accountability partner/group (preferably a colleague that is in your field) and check in with them every now and then. (this step is important to ensure you and your colleague are on the right path. Check what works and what doesn't.
  8. Once your work time is over, turn off any work related stuff otherwise there will be no clear demarcation of work life sphere.
Take advantage of this time away from office. Reconnect with your spouse. Spend quality time with your kids. Start exercising. Do some meditation. Pray. Do online courses. Learn a new language. Play music instruments. Blog. Write a book.
Possibilities are endless.
This is the time that is given to us, the time that we crave we had before all this.
Stay safe everyone. We are in this together.
